"I'm standing for Mayor of Porirua because we need strong governance and leadership, we need to manage smarter and we need to put the people at the heart of what we do.
I know how important strategic direction and effective leadership is from my experiences as Deputy Mayor and with local Boards – including the Wellington Rugby Union, the Porirua Community Trust and as Rangikura School Chair for the past 9 years.
Rates are a real concern to the people of our city. I’m listening. Our city council needs to work as a cohesive team and we need to get the basics right in our infrastructure and in our planning for the future. I am sure we can do better.
Business opportunities must be central to our plans, along with planning for future housing needs and protecting our unique environment.
I also believe that we need to remember that communities are about people. I don’t ever want to lose sight of that and I promise a council with heart, soul and vision to make Porirua the best city in which to live, work and play".
